About Me
Experience
I am a passionate UX researcher with over five years of mixed-method research experience in the healthcare industry. I have worked with companies like Invetech, ResMed, and Parkview Health to enhance patient engagement with their health and improve user experience and safety of medical devices. Additionally, I have expertise in diverse research areas, including digital information, accessibility, multimodal interaction, complex information architectures, and gaming.
Education
I earned a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction (2010-2015) from the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, & Engineering at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI). Under the mentorship of Dr. Davide Bolchini, I worked as a full-time research assistant. My dissertation was investigating a number of design alternatives, which had the potential to enhance quick scanning through content-rich pages when the time and contextual or physical constraints are at play. Specifically, my work focused on introducing the concept of aural flows and validated aural flows in the context of walking and driving. As part of my research, I conducted user experiments in a driving simulation lab at TASI at IUPUI.
I also assisted Dr. Davide Bolchini on two NSF-funded research projects. One project focused on studying aural navigation patterns to enhance website accessibility for visually impaired users. The other project investigated trust-based clinical alerts in healthcare settings.
I received my Master's degree in Information Management (2008-2010) from the iSchool at Syracuse University, NY. During this time, I worked for a year under the supervision of Dr. Ping Zhang, focusing on students' use of social media for various purposes. This research sparked my interest in Human-Computer Interaction.
